The 5th Panel Conference of Jurnal Sosiologi Reflektif to Accommodate the Emerging Researchers

On 24-25 November 2021, the Sociology Study Program Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities held a prestigious annual event called Panel Conference Journal of Sociology Reflektif. This year is the fifth edition of the event organized by the Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta under the topic of “Social Changes After Pandemic: Reinterpreting Everyday Life of Muslim Society”.
It took place at Interactive Center FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga. On the first day, it opened with an opening ceremony by inviting the rector, a dean, and a head of study program to give a remark. The Dean and vice-dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities supported the academic tradition annually initiated and orchestrated by The Journal Sosiologi Reflektif.
Meanwhile, as the Head of Sociology Study Program, Dr. Muryanti, M.A. said that this panel is planned to be an academic space to give a wide opportunity to academicians and students in order to be able to share the research findings and publish them in the journal. At the same time, the dean, Dr. Mochammad Sodik appreciated all panel participants and audiences who passionately joined the panel. As a replacement of the rector, Dr. Muhrisun appreciated the Journal Sosiologi Reflektif which is still continuing to organize the event every year. He hopes that the journal can go international and get a Scopus-indexed.
On the first day, there were opening talks and general panel from many great speakers which were moderated by Bernando J. Sujibto. They are Dr. Jan Ali, Prof. Atun Wardatun, M.A., Ph.D, Achmad Zainal Arifin, M.A., Ph.D, and Dr. Omer Faruk. Dr. Jan Ali shared about Australian experience after the pandemic in terms of how society changes and shapes itself into new normal. Impressive research on women’s roles in family during the pandemic has also become a highlight which was awesomely presented Prof. Atun. The experiences in local context like Javanese culture have been also brought forward to look at very carefully how local wisdom challenges social change during pandemic. The last presentation came from Turkish perspective which was explained very well by Dr. Omer Faruk.

The event was held online and offline in which participants can easily join it. Participants can choose the panel topics by following the Break-Out Zoom mechanism. The penallists were grouped into six and each group was ready with a moderator and reviewer. After all participants presented, organizers chose the best 10 presenters to receive gifts and merchandise from the Sociology Study Program (Alin).
