4th Panel Conference on Reflective Sociology Journal Runs Successfully

Wednesday, November 25, 2020, Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga held a virtual 4th Panel Conference on Reflective Sociology Journal via Zoom and Youtube. The conference was held for two days and themed (from) Langgar (to) Cafe: Islam, Youth and Freedom of Religious Expressions in the Digital Era. Attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM) UIN Sunan Kalijaga, lecturers of the Sociology Study Program, panelists of the Reflective Sociology Journal, and other participants.
This conference was welcomed by Dr. Mochamad Sodik, S.Sos, M.Si as the Dean of FISHUM. Dr. Mochamad Sodik, S.Sos, M.Si said that we are entering academic as well as political spaces, so we must be ready to build moderate Islamic and knowledge, so we must continue to inflame the spirit of wisdom and progress, so that this diverse Indonesia is always united in difference.
Dr. Phil. Sahiron, M.A as Deputy Chancellor of UIN Sunan Kalijaga also gave a speech and opened the Reflective Sociology Journal Conference this time. He explained that one of our obligations as academics is to do research. Done as well as possible and published in the Journal of Reflective Sociology and other journals. Research is carried out with the aim of developing science and scientific dialectics. We also have to do community development, change society for the better. Provide strategic recommendations to the government to support community development. Then, continued with the delivery of material from two sources, namely Dr. Phil. Suratno, M.A (Lecturer at Paramadina University) and Prof. Alitemizel (Lecturer at Seljuk University, Turkey).
Dr. Phil. Suratno M.A provides material on radicalism and terrorism. The relationship between youth and the internet makes young people vulnerable to online radicalization, as online games are one that affects young people, because they are closest to technology. One of the ways to overcome online radicalization is by filling cyberspace or online with moderate or nationalist ideas, the hope is that it can minimize the radicalization itself. Furthermore, material from Prof. Alitemizel, who explained that humanity is the main thing, this is also related to the principle of life. Furthermore, he explained about Urban Sufism which focused on Jalaluddin Rumi's thoughts.
Then proceed with the delivery of material from the panelists of the Reflective Sociology Journal. The various themes were grouped into several panel sessions and discussed in an interesting manner. Some of the themes include "Variety of Meanings in Millennial Religious Expressions", "Expressions of Criticism in Religious Life in Social Media Spaces, Comedy, and the Women's Movement", "Politics and Religion: Building Harmony in Conflict Spaces", and "Religion in Economic and Social Spaces. Family." The participants were very enthusiastic and active in participating in the conference, seen from the large number of participants who joined and gave various questions. At the close of Thursday, November 26, 2020, the Reflective Sociology Journal conference is expected to benefit all and many more who participate in the next conference. (Qorir)
