Curriculum Review Towards an Independent Campus

On Wednesday (24/06/2020) the Sociology Study Program conducted a curriculum review for an independent campus that had been announced by the government. This curriculum is planned to be implemented in the new academic year 2020/2021. The adaptation process towards the 2020 curriculum (an independent campus) is not too far from the existing curriculum.
The independent campus curriculum still uses the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and the National Higher Education Standards (SNPT). However, in this independent curriculum, one additional important point is that the portion of field learning is increased and students are allowed to take courses at other study programs, faculties or universities. It aims to enhance new experiences in theory and practice.
The important thing in this meeting is the maturation of courses that are considered as the center/core in sociology, the reduction, and merging of courses. Of course, the determination of the subjects in the independent curriculum takes into account the learning achievements that have been determined by the Sociology Study Program. There are at least 8 subjects that must be in the Sociology Study Program that has been determined by the Association of Indonesian Sociology Study Programs (APSSI) while the other courses are characteristic courses that show the uniqueness of the study programs of each institution.
The composition of the independent campus curriculum which will be implemented in the Sociology Study Program consists of 144 credits. The number of credits is divided into 3 groups or categories, namely national character and character traits of UIN Sunan Kalijaga (Integration-Interconnection), study program science including mandatory community service, and scientific support for optional study programs.
This curriculum review aims to improve the campus academic climate and bring students closer to an increasingly competitive world of work.
